Often a client will approach us with a grievance or issue, and we will help them to assess their position in a full, honest and non-partisan manner so as to determine the best course of action.

Having seen the corrosive effect which dispute have on parties we always encourage our clients to communicate as much as possible.  Poor communication is often the reason for disputes to arise in the first place and turning back the clock once a dispute has arisen can be hard for the parties to accept so we encourage parties to agree to the appointment of a single joint expert to assess the issue and avoiding expensive and stressful legal action.

Acting in an unbiased manner is a critical factor to all the advice we provide as, despite our best endeavours, disputes may still need to be settled by a court or tribunal so need to be in accordance with the Civil Procedure Rules (CPR), the RICS Practice Statement, “Surveyors acting as expert witnesses”  and any other RICS practice statements or pre-action protocols.

All advice will be led by our Julian Record, a Chartered Building Surveyor and Chartered Project Manager with over 20 years experience within the property and construction industry.  Julian has completed the RICS accredited Legal Experience Training Advanced Professional Award in Expert Witness Evidence and has prepared several CPR compliant RICS Expert Witness reports either for one party to the dispute or, both parties as a Single Joint Expert.

Julian is a member of The Academy of Experts.  Members have been rigorously accredited by The Academy on the grounds of qualification in their profession; Understanding the role and duties of the expert witness and their ability to put this into practice.

If you would like to discuss your situation on a confidential basis please contact our Julian Record and he would be delighted to assist.

I’d like to thank you for all your hard work and commitment facilitating our move to Baskerville House which, given the complicated structuring of the leases and phasing of the works to accommodate the changes to our organisation, was by no means straight forward. Overall we are extremely pleased with the end result, which was achieved at great value for money and with excellent client service.

Tim Manson | Director of Operations Marketing Birmingham TESTIMONIALS

Record Associates were engaged as project manager to support the redevelopment of an old industrial premises which we recently acquired to support our growing business. Julian worked closely with me and our delivery team to understand our space and engineering requirements so the works delivered best value for money and crucially were undertaken within our tight programme. A number of enabling works packages were agreed to progress the works whilst design was underway. We also had to deal with some tricky decisions regarding how much to spend on repairs to the old building. Julian’s knowledge and experience on all aspect was invaluable and helped remove large elements of risk and ultimately provided us with better value for money.
